Your Genealogy Might be a Surprise

The Denver Metropolitian and Northern Colorado chapters of AHSGR (American Historical Society of Germans from Russia) is co-hosting the 44th International Convention from July 7-14 at the Hilton Hotel in Ft. Collins. This theme is to recognize the 250th Anniversity of the Manifesto issued by Catherine the Great of Russia. It was this manifesto that had German families immigrate into Russia and then at the turn of the Century immigrate to the United States.

Colorado was a major destination of these families. Globeville, once part of the City and County of Denver, is where families made their homes. Other areas include Greeley, Loveland, Windsor, Longmont, Ft. Collins and in the Colorado Eastern Plains.

It has been found that some families are aware of their German heritage, but some do not know that they are in fact, Germans, but from Russia. At this conference a special section is available for participants to research the genealogy of their families.
