Medicare Counseling – Tuesday, September 8 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Trained volunteers will assist you with your Medicare issues. Appointments are required; please call 303-255-7850. Appointments are from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. FREE!

Thornton Harvestfest Pancake Breakfast – Saturday, September 12 from 7:30 -9:30 a.m.
As a part of the Thornton Harvest Fest celebration, the Thornton Senior Center will be hosting an all-you-can-eat pancake breakfast for the community. The menu will include pancakes, bacon, sausage, scrambled eggs, juice and coffee. Fees: $4 for adults and $2.50 for seniors 55 and older and children 12 and younger.

Medicare 101 – Tuesday, September 15 at 6:30 p.m.
Information is provided about Medicare enrollment, benefits, costs, what and how Medicare pays, choices under Medicare plans, how they work and prescription drug coverage. Reservations are required; please call 303-255-7850. Medicare classes are provided by Senior Health Insurance Program (SHIP) Counselors. Location: Carpenter Recreation Center – 11151 Colorado Blvd. FREE!

Thornton Resource Fair – Wednesday, September 16 from 11 a.m. – 12 p.m.
The city of Thornton provides many great services to the Seniors in our community. These services include recycling, help with home maintenance (for those who qualify), water quality and conservation, crime prevention, recreation and much more. Come and visit with many city of Thornton representatives who will share ideas and answer questions. FREE!

Active Aging Week September 28-October 2

Monday, September 28 – Your Food Affects Your Mood 12:45 p.m.
There is evidence that what you eat can influence your mood, stress level, energy level and mental function. Learn the specific food to choose and those to avoid to keep you feeling relaxed and happy. Presented by Registered Dietician Laura Brieser-Smith. FREE!

Tuesday, September 29 – Build Better Balance 10:45 – 11:45 a.m.
Does fear of falling prevent you from doing activities you enjoy? Learn about exercises that will help you to improve your balance. Wear comfortable shoes. Presented by Laura Brieser-Smith. FREE!

Wednesday, September 30 – Self Care Massage 12:45 p.m.
Massage Therapist Sherrill Gallegos will explain the benefits of self-care massage and give you strategies for massaging your own back and hands and how to provide reflexology to your feet even if you have a hard time reaching them! FREE!
