The League of Women Voters of Denver Celebrates its 85th Birthday

The Brown Palace Hotel will be the location of the September 14th luncheon commemorating the founding of the League of Women Voters of Denver 85 years ago. The celebration will feature Anne Trujillo of Channel 7 as emcee. Former Mayor Wellington Webb will be the speaker.

The League of Women Voters of Denver was formed in 1932 as the “Denver Women Citizen League.” In 1941, they officially became “The League of Women Voters of Denver.” During the early years of the organization they often met at the Brown Palace.

The League of Women Voters, a non-partisan organization that encourages the informed and active participation of citizens, supports a governmental system that is open, representative, responsive, accountable, efficient, and fair in its treatment of all citizens.

The League has served the citizens of Denver through the years by sponsoring candidate debates and forums for local elections and providing pro and con ballot information on election issues.

The League invites all who are interested in learning about and supporting the organization to join them at this luncheon. The price of $50 includes the newly published “LWVD History Book 1932-2017.”
