The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation Contributes $325,000 for New Health & Wellness Center at Kavod Senior Life

DENVER, CO – In April 2017, Kavod Senior Life will open the doors of a brand new, on-site Health & Wellness Center named after its most generous donor, The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Foundation. The Foundation provided a lead gift of $325,000 towards the project.

“We decided to create the Center after assessing the needs of our residents,” noted Perry Moss, Board Chair for Kavod Senior Life. “We learned that many individuals were ignoring crucial health needs due to difficulties accessing quality care.”

Once completed, the Center will offer services covering medical, dental and mental health issues as well as physical therapy, exercise and rehabilitation programs. The Center will serve over 400 residents at Kavod, and eventually will open its doors to the greater community of seniors surrounding the Kavod campus. Kavod is one of the few subsidized properties in Denver offering such comprehensive, on-site services.

“The Weinberg Foundation is committed to supporting organizations that help low-income and vulnerable older adults to age in their communities, with maximum independence and quality of life,” said Aaron Merki, Weinberg Foundation Program Officer for Older Adults. “The new Kavod Health & Wellness Center is a wonderful reflection of that commitment.”

The Harry and Jeanette Weinberg Health & Wellness Center will be located on the top floor of Kavod’s West Building, one of three towers of apartments in Cherry Creek. Kavod is planning a grand opening in April featuring remarks from local dignitaries, ribbon cutting, food, music and tours.

Kavod Senior Life is a nonsectarian, 501(c)3 nonprofit organization serving older adults with housing and other services. Established in 1968, Kavod’s service model is centered on honor, respect, and Jewish values. The organization provides high-quality subsidized and market-rate apartments for Independent and Assisted Living and enrichment services for the community.
