~ Forum to Strengthen, Expand and Improve Social Security ~
Social Security is the bedrock supporting the vast majority of America’s older citizens. Contrary to popular belief it is not broken and it will be there for this generation and those to come. It can, however, be strengthened and improved for those who rely on it.
The National Committee to Preserve Social Security and Medicare urges Colorado Seniors to attend a free Forum on June 19th at Metro State University. A panel discussion will be held in the morning followed by breakout sessions with the following speakers:
- Dan Adcock from the Washington Office of the National Committee will cover the recent, current, and anticipated legislative issues for Social Security.
- Dr. Michael Cortes, School of Social Work, Denver University will talk about the impact of Social Security on minority populations and
- Bridget Kaminskyv, lead organizer of the national women’s advocacy organization, 9 to 5, will discuss issues women encounter in the work force.
A light lunch will be provided for those participating in the afternoon breakout sessions.
