Stay Safe, Reserve a Free Fan

Volunteers of America to distribute fans to seniors in time to beat the summer heat

When the sun is beating down and temperatures regularly top over 90 degrees, too many seniors are desperately waiting for relief. Volunteers of America will be hosting its 13th annual Cool Down and Be Safe event this June, promoting senior safety in the summer heat.

Seniors who are 60 years old or better, live on a limited income, and have not previously participated are eligible to receive a free fan.  Volunteers of America will be distributing 400 fans to seniors in Adams, Arapahoe, Denver, Douglas, Jefferson, Clear Creek, and Gilpin counties.

Those eligible must reserve their fan by calling the Volunteers of America Handyman Program at (303) 297-0408. Fans will be reserved on a first come first serve basis. Reserved fans will be delivered directly to individuals June 1-12.
