Senior homeowners can apply now for free Paint-A-Thon, volunteer teams forming
~ 7,000th home will be painted this year ~
In its 37th season of the Paint-A-Thon, Brothers Redevelopment is on pace to paint Home No. 7,000 this year. Every aspect of the annual campaign is under way.
Paint-A-Thon teams are forming. Applications from seniors are being accepted. Sponsors can claim their spot NOW on the donor roster … for 2015 – Brothers Redevelopment’s 37th Paint-A-Thon season.
Last season, 127 homes in 19 cities across seven counties were painted. The average age of the homeowners is 72. The average monthly income is $1,540. More than 70 volunteer teams – 2,586 volunteers! – worked a combined 19,979 hours to paint the homes of those seniors. The value of the volunteer hours exceeds $500,000 and the value to the homeowners is greater than $555,000.
Essential funding comes from all quarters: municipal and county partners, foundations, corporations and individuals.
The sum of all those parts is the Paint-A-Thon.
Senior applications
Anyone can nominate a senior for the free Paint-A-Thon. Brothers plans to paint more than 100 homes this year.
Senior homeowners are encouraged to apply. Friends and family of metro-area senior homeowners who can benefit from having their homes painted – free – are encouraged to nominate a homeowner.
To qualify, individuals must be 60 years or older, own and occupy their own home and plan to live in it at least one more year. Seniors must have a limited income and be financially unable to hire a house painter. The home can’t be taller than 1½ stories and must be in need of painting.
Senior applications are due by May 31. The form is available on the “Paint-A-Thon Central” page of the Brothers Redevelopment Web site: www.brothersredevelopment.org. Click on the PAT logo. An application also can be requested by calling or emailing Volunteer Manager Chad Nibbelink at 720-339-5864 or chad@brothersredevelopment.org.
