Senior Day at The Capitol is just around the corner!
Senior Day at The Capitol is on Wednesday, March 15, 2017. This is a very special event organized by Colorado Senior Lobby. If you have not attended before plan to do so this year. Why attend? Your voice and your membership in Colorado Senior Lobby can help preserve senior funding. At our event you will hear from legislators, elected officials and Senior Day at The Capitol Sponsors that serve seniors.
The morning session starts out at the Capitol located at 200 E. Colfax Avenue in Denver. Seniors are hosted in the historic Old Supreme Court Chamber in the North 2nd floor mezzanine of the Capitol. The room is amazing! We provide a continental breakfast with many volunteers and sponsors sharing great information on services important to older adults. The morning session features state legislators who join us in the Chamber to talk about senior issues and programs. The Governor, Speaker of the House, Senate President and all Legislators are all invited (schedules pending). The Governor attended last year and was great. This is a free event with no reserved seating; however priority is given to seniors and the disabled.
Then the afternoon session is held at Denver Consistory at 1370 Grant Street. This historic building, also known as the Scottish Rites Masonic Center is southeast of The Capitol. It is within walking distance, just across the street. We are offering box lunches that can be pre-paid for online or with a check at a cost of $10.00 each. The afternoon program will feature information on citizen lobbying and how Colorado Senior Lobby can help your voice be heard.
Again this year we will be streaming the morning session plus we are arranging for a simultaneous morning session on the western slope. Visit our website to find information on pre-paying for lunch, take the time to browse photos from past Senior Day at The Capitol events and sign up for our Newsletter.
