Retired and Senior Volunteer Program (RSVP) – Mar. 2018

Studies show that volunteers tend to live longer and feel more satisfied with their lives. Help yourself and your community by volunteering. It’s never too late to get started. We find volunteer spots for those 55 or older across all of Adams County, and in eastern Arapahoe County including Aurora, eastern Centennial and the I-70 corridor to Deer Trail. Arapahoe County Dept. of Human Services (DHS): Volunteers are needed to help in several ways: admin and program support, and information ambassadors. Also helping with children during their parent’s appointments. Call RSVP for more information and contacts.

Hospital Help: Platte Valley Medical Center (Brighton) North Suburban Hospital (Thornton), Saint Anthony North (Westminster): Several different jobs assisting patients and families and providing directions. May require up to 4 hour shifts. Call RSVP.

Schools: Help in Adams 1 (Mapleton), Adams 12 Five Star, Westminster (Adams 50) or Brighton 27J elementary schools for 2hrs/week in the Schools Where All Thrive (SWAT) Tutor/Mentor Program. Help 2nd and 3rd graders with reading. We have schools waiting for the program because we need more volunteers. Training is provided. These kids need you, so please contact us today. Other school assistance: Elementary and secondary schools in Adams and east Arapahoe school districts. Many spots to fill in a variety of activities. Contact Tom Rapp for locations and more details.

Meals on Wheels (MOW): Routes in Aurora, Brighton, and across western Adams County. Deliver one day per week or more. Driver routes are available Monday – Saturday and take about 1-2 hours. Some seniors are being put on waiting lists due to a shortage of drivers. Call RSVP for details.

Sr. Hub Adult Day Service: Someone to pick up and take meals to ADS. Volunteers are also needed to serve meals and help with activities during the week Mon.-Fri. Contact RSVP.

Hunger Free Colorado: Volunteers are needed to help with several different jobs to reduce hunger in the metro area. Call RSVP for contact information and further details.

Senior Hub In-Home Care: Volunteers help homebound seniors in Adams and eastern Arapahoe with light housekeeping, shopping, fixing meals, companionship or respite for caregivers. Call RSVP today.

Aurora Health Access: Volunteers are needed to help in any of several ways: Serving on boards and committees; helping with filing and clerical tasks; answering phones; receptionist duties. Call RSVP.

CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Adams/Broomfield: Help children who can’t live safely at home to fight for their safety, dignity and passage through foster care. Call RSVP.
