Retirees Can Still Make a Difference: Volunteer with Adams/E. Arapahoe RSVP
Studies show volunteers live longer and more satisfying lives and it’s never too late to start. We find volunteering for those 55+ in all of Adams County, and Arapahoe (Aurora, east Centennial, and I-70 to Deer Trail). Sponsors: Corp. for National and Community Service, and The Senior Hub, Inc. Meals on Wheels (MOW): Aurora, Brighton, and western Adams County. Deliver 1 day per week or more. Routes available Mon – Sat take 1-2 hours. We need more drivers to cover routes this summer while other drivers are on vacation. Help eligible seniors avoid waiting lists. Call RSVP.
Community Garden Helpers: We need many helpers with our community garden project this summer in Thornton, Northglenn and other north-metro areas. Call Tom Rapp for info and locations.
Senior Hub: Adult Day Service Dept: Needs volunteers to serve meals and help with activities Mon.-Fri. Senior Hub: In-Home Care Dept: Needs volunteers to help homebound seniors in Adams/eastern Arapahoe with housekeeping, shopping, meals, companionship and caregiver respite. Call RSVP today.
Schools: Schools Where All Thrive (SWAT) Tutor/Mentor Program. Help 2nd and 3rd graders to read better in Adams 1 (Mapleton), Adams 12 Five Star, Westminster (Adams 50) or Brighton 27J elementary schools for 2hrs/week. We will need many more volunteers next school year. Training is provided. These kids need you so call today. Other school help: Many spots in a variety of activities. Hospital Help: Platte Valley Medical Center (Brighton) North Suburban Hospital (Thornton), Saint Anthony North (Westminster): May require up to four-hour shifts. Several different jobs. Call RSVP.
Hunger Free Colorado: Volunteers to help with numerous volunteer jobs to reduce hunger in the metro area. Call RSVP for contact information and further details.
Aurora Health Access: Volunteers help in many ways: Serving on boards and committees; helping with filing and clerical tasks; answering phones; receptionist duties. Call RSVP.
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) Adams/Broomfield: Help children who can’t live safely at home to fight for safety, dignity and passage through the court system to foster care. Call RSVP.
Arapahoe County Dept. of Human Services (DHS): Volunteers needed for administrative and program support, information ambassadors and helping with children during parent’s appointments. Call RSVP for more information and contacts.
Military retiree or the spouse/widow of a retiree? Questions about DEERS/ID cards, TRICARE, SBP, the VA, retired pay, wills, powers of attorney, prescriptions, casualty assistance, military records, etc.?
