A few weeks ago we received an invitation to a wedding. Nothing unusual about that but as I read the invitation it became apparent that this was not going to be an ordinary wedding. The invitation was from the residence of The Meridian Westland in Lakewood. The groom Chef Paul Gummerson is the Director of Dinning Services at the Meridian Westland. He is so well liked and respected that the residents offered to gift him a reception at the residence. They really went above board and did an amazing job!
The moment we walked in we knew we were in a special place at a special time. The facility was perfectly decorated from top to bottom. The choir (The Melodious Meridians) performed beautifully and set the tone for the evening. They were perfect.
The bride, Liz Laciak was beaming as she descended the stairway escorted by her three sons Dustin, Tyler and Jake, two of which were proudly wearing their military uniforms. It was a sight to behold. Paul’s sons, Paul Jr. and Brandon were also in attendance along with numerous family and friends. The ceremony was beautiful and emotional. The happy couple were united in marriage by the Pastor Jordon Emmerson. The Meridian Westland community served as official witnesses.
The residents of the community presented the newlyweds with a scrapbook that contained wedding photos from their own weddings. It was fun watching them flipping through the pages and signing notes of congratulations under their photos.
It was great to meet and chat with the residents, they love Chef Paul. They appreciated the opportunity to do something special for him. Seniors are often unable to attend family events, much-less to have the fun and excitement of helping to plan the event. The people at the Meridian Westland really got involved and created an aff air and celebration for a loved one to be remembered for a lifetime. Deb and I were honored to be in attendance.
