Ramblings of a Rambler – June 2022

Hi Prime Timers. It is with a heavy heart again that I’m writing my article. Unfortunately, I have done more than a few such articles since purchasing the paper. The horrific shooting in Uvalde has literally made me sick to my stomach and I have run the gamut of emotions. Will we ever feel safe sending our children and loved ones to school? Something has GOT to change!

How’s your mental health? Mine? I’m glad you asked. It’s doing pretty good. I’ve made some changes in my social media usage and I do feel a difference. One thing I did was delete anything political coming into my feed. I also deleted most news feeds. I want my Eagle and Bronco news and rumors, that’s entertainin…for me.

I hate our political dialogue, it’s rude. The more you insult the other side the better you poll. Forget the issues, one side is this and the other side is that. While we play the game of fools, our elected officials do very little to address the issues that have a direct effect on our lives.

The old adage “divide and conquer” is ringing pretty true to my ears.

I’m done playing the game. We are all Americans; a democrat is an American a republican is an American an Independent is an American. They’re our family, friends, neighbors they’re our community. Be leery of the rude folks. Like my grandmother used to say “It doesn’t take much intelligence to be rude”.

Be nice, because someone disagrees with you does not make them your enemy. Folks see things differently. Most time if you listen you will learn something.

Oh, here’s a biggie if you want to help your mental health. It’s OK to change your mind if your mind changes. Change is part of life. With the blessing of living a few decades I believe that’s as sure as death and taxes.

Be nice, have manners, help someone if you can.
