Ramblings of a Rambler – June 2014
Hi Prime Timers, I hope you enjoy this months edition. There is plenty of good information for everyone. A big Thank You to our contributing writers. It is a pleasure to share your work with our Seniors. . .
I have to apologize for last months mistake with the Bronco schedule. If one person called me, fifty people called me. Everyone was a good sport and we enjoyed a few laughs. We have the correct 2014 Bronco schedule on page four in this edition. I can understand the excitement. The Broncos are not fooling around this year. They’re all in. This should be a very exciting year. . .
On the home front, Deb and I have decided its time to “downsize”. We’re about to put our house on the market and buy a smaller home or townhouse. We tried this a few years back but the market went belly up. We pulled out all the tricks. I even buried St Joseph upside down in the front yard. If you’re confused its an old tradition from back east. Hopefully we’ll have better luck this time. . .
WOW! How about all the moisture we’ve received this year. A few years ago I had the pleasure of working with some of the newspapers in the Eastern Plains. When anyone talked water, things got serious. I hope those folks are soaking it up. Life is hard enough without a drought. . .
A few weeks ago we traveled to Maryland to celebrate our grandsons Harrisons first birthday. I’ve met the lad a few times but he was too young to remember me. That changed on this trip. I enjoyed the early years when our family was young and our sons kept us on our toes, but I think I’m enjoying the grandkids more. Five years ago I recall a conversation with Deb wondering if we would ever have any grandchildren. Now we have four. Three beautiful granddaughters and our grandson who can sport a dapper hat. . .
I was reading a report on the marijuana business in Colorado. The report said the fastest growing segment of the population buying marijuana is the 50 and older crowd. I guess that makes sense. It hit main stream America in the 60’s and 70’s. We are considering running articles on marijuana for the benefit of our readers. What do you think? I’d love to have your feedback. . .
I can’t wait for the trails to dry so I can go for a nice hike. My oldest son and I like to take a Father’s Day hike. Three years ago I fractured my wrist in a fall at Rocky Mountain National Park. We just finished paying the medical bills from the surgery. I’ll be more careful this time. . .
