Hi Prime Timers! I’m Rambling while watching the AFC championship game between Kansas City and the Baltimore Ravens. They just exchanged touchdowns and the crowd in Baltimore is going wild. I’ll be pulling for the underdogs on this day since my team, the Eagles, had an epic meltdown to lose 6 out of the last 7 games. Ehhh! So goes life…
We’re fortunate to have a story in this month’s edition commemorating the 79th anniversary of the epic WWII battle of Iwo Jima. The article was written by Grady T. Birdsong, USMC Vietnam Veteran. Grady has written a few articles for Prime Time News, we love his writing. He has a knack for detail and accuracy and he paints a vivid picture with his words. We’ve had the honor/privelege of meeting some of the Marines who landed on Iwo Jima at Coopers Troopers. A few years ago, we attended a luncheon where the feature speaker was one of the guys who was holding the flag in the famous photo. His story was riveting. What amazed me was the realization that these men were kids in their late teens when they were asked to do what seemed to be the impossible. There aren’t many WW11 hero’s remaining and we must never forget the sacrifices they made for our freedom. You can read Grady’s story on page 12. Give a nod of gratitude for those who gave there all and a small prayer for those who are still with us…. Thank you for your service!!
