Prescription Drug Take Back Day to be held in Highlands Ranch
Saturday, Sept. 27 from 10 a.m. until 2 p.m. the Highlands Ranch Metro District and Centennial Water & Sanitation District are partnering with the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office (DCSO) and the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA) to present a Pharmaceutical Take Back Day in Highlands Ranch. It will be held at the Douglas County Sheriff’s Office Highlands Ranch Substation, located at 9250 Zotos Dr. The DCSO will collect potentially dangerous expired, unused, and unwanted prescription and over-the-counter drugs for destruction. The service is free and anonymous.
These nationwide events provide a unified opportunity for the public to surrender expired, unwanted or unused prescribed controlled substances and other prescribed and over-the-counter medications to law enforcement officers for destruction. The DEA’s efforts bring national focus to the issue of pharmaceutical substance abuse, while providing a secure and environmentally-friendly outlet for disposal that will protect our water resources.
