Senior Activity: Gaming with the Chief

Challenge Chief Jim May in Crokinole – a disk-flicking dexterity board game. No cost – just come on by!

 Senior Activity: First Friday Flick

Hang out and enjoy a movie and free popcorn. Titles will be announced one week prior at the center and online. Please sign up in advance.

Fitness Activity: New Year’s Yoga Workshop

Northglenn Recreation Center, 1 E. Memorial Parkway on Jan. 5 from 5:30 until 7:30 p.m.

Welcome to the new year with intention and positivity. This workshop is designed to help you kick-start your resolutions and create a foundation for a healthier and more balanced year ahead. Begin by setting intentions followed by an energizing and goal-oriented yoga session. Next, complete a vision board that will visually represent your goals. Finish with breathwork to align your mind, body and spirit. This class is suitable for all levels. Register by Jan. 3. The Cost is $15 for residents and $20 for non-residents.

 Fitness Activity: Indoor-Triathlon

Northglenn Recreation Center on Jan. 7 from 8 a.m. until noon

Kick off 2024 with a triple-threat — swim for 10 minutes, cycle for 30, then run for 20. Whether you’re a seasoned triathlete or new to the challenge, this is a great way to set your year in motion. Awards for top finishers in men’s, women’s, master’s and 17 and under categories. Register by Jan. 2

Senior Activity: Anythink Library presents: Crafts with Kristie at the Northglenn Senior Center on Jan. 11 at 12:30 p.m.

Anythink is in the house with a series of fun craft projects. For this class, learn how to make dried flower bookmarks.

Coffee with the Chief

Fri., Jan. 12, 8-9 a.m., Safeway Starbucks, 500 E. 120th Ave.

Come talk to Police Chief Jim May on the second Friday of every month about any police or public safety concerns you may have. As an added bonus – the coffee’s on us!

 Teen Activity: Video Game Days

Northglenn Recreation Center on Jan. 13 from 2:30 to 6 p.m.

Have some festive fun while playing local pick-up competitive games! We have gaming laptops, PS5, Xbox S, and Nintendo Switch consoles. Snacks and drinks were provided. Teen Activity: Tabletop Game Days

Northglenn Recreation Center on Jan. 13 from 2:30 until 6 p.m.

Gather for some fun pen-and-paper games led by a local game master. Test out a new game world including Dungeons and Dragons, Dishonored, Cyberpunk, Honey Heist and more. Snacks and drinks provided. Register by Jan. 10 and the cost is $5.

Celebrate all things popcorn with samples, fun activities and classic cartoons.

Viva Mexico Exhibit Opening Reception

Parsons Theatre Lobby on Jan. 19, 6-8 p.m.

Northglenn is partnering with the Chicano Humanities and Arts Council (CHAC) on an exhibit celebrating Mexico. The exhibit is free and available to view whenever the theatre is open.

 Get Active: Sound Bath

Northglenn Recreation Center on Jan. 20 from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Experience what sound vibration immersion can do for your body, mind, and energy field. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents. Please register by Jan. 17. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents.

Get Active: Drum Circle

Northglenn Recreation Center on Jan. 21 from noon until 1:30 p.m.

Drumming allows us to connect with ourselves and others to release, restore and health. No experience is necessary. Drums will be provided, although you can bring one if you would like. Sign up by Jan. 18. The cost is $20 for residents and $25 for non-residents.

 Senior Activity: Chili Cook-Off

Northglenn Senior Center on Jan. 26 at noon

Do you make the best chili on the block? Enter it into the 18th annual Chili Cook-Off. Red and green chili are judged in separate divisions. Bring your chili entry or a complementary side dish for this potluck.

 Senior Activity: Fraud Prevention & Lockbox Program

Northglenn Senior Center on Jan. 30 at 1 p.m.

Join Det. Hoodak of the Northglenn Police Department for an informational class on how to protect you and your family from the latest scams. Officer Lund will then talk about the city’s lockbox program.

Get Active: Weight Room Orientation

Northglenn Recreation Center, 1 E. Memorial Parkway, on Feb. 2 from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m.

The weight room offers a variety of workout equipment and resources. If you are new to it, this is a great place to start! The cost is free, but please RSVP by Jan. 26.
