Malley Senior Recreation Center – June 2016

The Malley Senior Recreation Center offers progressive programs that promote healthy aging, including:

An annual or daily admission pass is required for adults 55 years of age or older to participate in certain amenities at the Malley Center. City of Englewood residents receive discounted rates.

Computer Lab
Malley’s Computer Lab is designed to be user friendly. Come surf the web, send email, scan a picture, burn a CD, or take a class with us!
Computer Open Lab Time allows Malley members access to use the computers.  Volunteers are on site to assist you if problems arise, but they don’t offer instruction during Open Lab.  If you are looking for specific information, please refer to the Play Englewood guide for a current list of computer class offerings.
The Malley Computer Lab runs with Microsoft Office 2007 programs.

Monday & Thursday,8am to 7pm.Tuesday, Noon to 7pm. Wednesday & Friday,8am to 5pm
1st, 3rd, 5th Saturday,9am to 1pm
*No open lab on Fridays beginning February 7, 2014 to April 11, 2014
Computer lab is closed during maintenance week, March 3-8, 2014.

Fitness Center
The Fitness Center at Malley includes a full line of Nautilus weight equipment designed to be senior-friendly with easier adjustments and greater weight stack variability. Our cardiovascular line includes LifeFitness; treadmills, three new cross trainers, upright bikes and recumbent bikes, along with three NuStep cross trainers.
Fitness Center Drop In Hours
Monday through Thursday, 11am to 7pm. Friday, 8am to 5pm. Saturday, 9am to 1pm.
Fitness training classes Monday-Thursday from 8am- 11pm
Fitness Orientations are offered to introduce users to the equipment, including how to adjust each piece to fit you properly and correct exercise techniques.  Upon completion of an Orientation, you may utilize the Fitness Room during Drop-In time.  Please check in at the front counter by showing your fitness pass.
Proper Attire We recommend you wear loose fitting clothing like sweat-pants and t-shirts that do not restrict your movement as you exercise. Athletic shoes are a must! Wearing proper shoes ensures you have adequate sole cushion, good heel support, and sufficient sole flexibility to keep you comfortable and safe while exercising.

Join us for lunch!
The Malley Center and Volunteers of America (VOA) team up to serve a great lunch every weekday in the Malley Center Ballroom. Reservations for lunch may be made at the Malley Front Desk or by calling 303-762-2660. Reservations must be made by noon two days in advance. Reservations for Monday and Tuesday must be made by noon on the previous Thursday. Doors open at 11:30 am for coffee and conversation. Lunch is served at Noon.
The VOA suggested donation for lunch is $2.50 for people 60 and older or a person under 60 years of age who is a spouse of someone 60 years or older. All other guests under 60 years old are welcome but must pay $7.25. First time visitors must complete a VOA registration form.
Volunteers are also welcome to help us with set-up, serving and clean up.

Services

  • Medicare Claims Assistance  Do you need help filling out Medicare forms? Call Centura Health Insurance Counseling for seniors (CHICS). If you need assistance, call the CHICS main office at 720-321-8860. This is a free service.
  • Visiting Nurse Association  The Visiting Nurse Association provides quality, affordable health care including foot care, cholesterol tests, and monitoring of chronic conditions. Various fees are charged for services. Visiting Nurses Clinics are operated and staffed by the VNA with partial funding from Mile High United Way and client contributions.
  • The Visiting Nurse Association is at the Malley Center the third Thursday each month, 9am-Noon. Service is by appointment and participants must sign themselves up by calling 303-698-6496 and leaving a message.  Your call will be returned to schedule your appointment.
  • Rent-A-Worker  Do you have housecleaning or yard work to get done? Through the Rent-A-Worker program, youth grades 6 to 12 can help with household chores – babysitting, snow-shoveling, house painting, moving, pet care and house cleaning. Call 303-762-2660 if you are interested in becoming a Rent-A-Worker or would like a Rent-A-Worker referral list.
