An Aurora woman recently celebrated her 99th birthday with a nod to her Hawaiian heritage at Chelsea Place, an Anthem Memory Care community. Janet Morikawa, a native of Hawaii, and her friends at the community enjoyed a luau-themed gala complete with lays, hula dancing and traditional foods. Morikawa shared a Hawaiian song from her childhood with her fellow residents at the community located at 14055 E. Quincy Ave., Aurora.
“We don’t just celebrate the yearly milestones,” said Sharon Naslund, community relations director for Chelsea Place. “We consider the resident’s heritage, life experiences and interests to shape each birthday gathering and make them special events for the entire community to enjoy.
