Local nonprofit wins $10,000 grant during inaugural GIVE65 event
Denver, Colorado – Every day, nearly 10,000 people are turning 65 years old in the United States. With the senior population growing faster than any other age group, organizations serving seniors are experiencing an increased demand for social service programs and resources. Unfortunately, less than 2 percent of funding from the nation’s largest grant makers is specifically focused on seniors (Foundation Center). But with the generous support of the Denver community, Dominican Home Health Agency (DHHA) is able to continue offering programs and services that empower seniors to remain independent and enhance their quality of life.
In July, DHHA participated in the first-ever GIVE65 Event, a 65-hour online giving event to help nonprofit organizations serving seniors raise funds online. Sixty-five nonprofits from 31 states took part in the inaugural event.
During the GIVE65 Event, DHHA raised funds while competing for a financial reward from Home Instead Senior Care Foundation¨. Financial rewards in the amount of $10,000 were awarded to a small, medium and large size nonprofit raising the most money or having the most donors participate. DHHA not only won its category for having the most donors, but had the most individual donor contributions of any of the 65 participating organization across all categories. An outstanding achievement!
“GIVE65 is an innovative way for our community to raise awareness and help our seniors tremendously. We are thrilled with the results and grateful to our many supporters for their help in making this event a success for DHHA,” said Gigi Stewart, Development Director.
The GIVE65 virtual event is an initiative of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation and the nation’s first and only crowd-fundraising platform focused exclusively on helping nonprofit organizations from across the country raise funds for programs and services benefiting seniors.
“Every gift will go toward helping seniors at the local level in communities across the country,” said Roger Baumgart, executive director of the Home Instead Senior Care Foundation. “We’re pleased to partner with Dominican Home Health Agency for the inaugural GIVE65 Event, which we hope will engage the nation and shine a light on the need for financial support for senior-focused nonprofit programs and services.” Curt Foust, Owner of Home Instead Senior Care Denver North adds, “Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for seniors in the Denver Metro Area, especially those who are most in need of our help, which is at the core of DHHA’s mission.”

DHHA’s quality care reduces the number of unnecessary and premature hospital visits and nursing home placements.
