Lent and Easter Activities at Trinity United Methodist Church

Denver — Trinity United Methodist Church will present many events and services during the 2014 Lent and Easter season. All events take place at:

Wednesday, March 5: Ash Wednesday
Individual prayer and imposition of ashes will be offered from 7:30-9 a.m. in the Sanctuary and 11:45 a.m.-12:15 p.m. in the Plaza Building (Stiles Chapel, Level 2). Participants are invited to come and go during those times.
Traditional worship will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Sanctuary, Jasper Peters, preaching.

Saturday, March 8 at 2 p.m.: Children’s Music Festival, Soaring in Song
Trinity’s Joyful Voices Primary and Intermediate Children’s Choirs and Genesis Ringers (handbells) are joined by St. Elizabeth’s School Choir for a joyous concert under the direction of Kathy Ives, Jackie Ives, Cindy Mueller and Judith Mitchell. The concert is free and open to the public.

Sunday, March 9: Lenten Small Group Gatherings
Trinity’s Adult Ministries Council is presenting Lenten Small Groups beginning March 9 through the six weeks of Lent in multiple neighborhoods throughout the metro area to discuss the theme ÒQuestions God Asks Us.Ó Groups will meet on a variety of dates and times in the following areas: North Suburbs, Arvada, Aurora, Lowry South, Lakewood, DU/North Littleton, City Park/Capitol Hill, Littleton, Lowry/Stapleton, downtown Denver and at Trinity United Methodist Church. Sunday, March 30 at 2 p.m.: A Concert of Organ and Choral Music
The Denver Chapter of the American Guild of Organists hosts a Choir and Organ Festival concert at Trinity with the choirs of Trinity United Methodist Church and First Plymouth Congregational Church, under the direction of Judith Mitchell and Frank Perko. The combined choir of over 100 singers will perform over a dozen choral selections including works by Allen Pote, Martin Shaw, Gustav Holst, William Mathias, Joseph Martin, and Craig Courtney, among others. Frank Perko, Norman Sutphin and Benjamin Ehrlich will also perform three organ works. The free concert will also take place at 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 29 at First Plymouth Congregational Church, 3501 S. Colorado Blvd., Englewood 80113.

Sunday, April 13 at 8:15 and 11 a.m.: Palm/Passion Sunday
Worship will be held at 8:15 and 11 a.m. with special music provided by Trinity’s Chancel Chamber Choir and Chancel Choir: Hosanna in the Highest by David Music and Sanctus by Ronald Williams.

Thursday, April 17 at 7 p.m.: Maundy Thursday
Trinity hosts an experience of Word, Song and Silence in the intimate setting of Fellowship Hall (Level 3).

Sunday, April 20: Easter Sunday
Worship will be held at 9 and 11 a.m. with special music by The Boulder Brass and Trinity’s Chancel Choir: Z. Randall Stroope’s Resurrection Day and Handel’s Hallelujah Chorus (from Messiah), joined by members of the congregation.
A pancake breakfast will be served in Fellowship Hall (Level 3) from 8-11 a.m., with a Children’s Eggstravaganza from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.
