League of Women Voters of Denver presents a Discussion on The Paths to Greater Public Participation in Government

The League was prompted to take a closer look at how to increase dialogue and deliberation when considering public policy changes after the recent Presidential election where we experienced heightened incivility among those with differing opinions and low voter turnout.

Increased public participation is core to the League of Women Voters’ mission. This presentation will explore the spectrum of processes for collaboration and consensus-building in public decisions. Model municipal ordinances to strengthen public participation at the local level will be highlighted.

Speakers will include Stephen Griffin, PhD, public participation research analyst; Maggie Thompson, aide to Denver Council Member Jolon Clark (District 7); and Sarah McCarthy, long-time League member and community activist.
