Mugs for Rugs
The Lafayette Senior Center is participating in Mugs for Rugs this fall prevention week as part of a statewide fall prevention initiative. Rugs are a common tripping hazard found in homes. Reduce your risk of falls by bringing a throw rug (4’x6’ or smaller) to the Lafayette Senior Center September 18-22 and receive a FREE mug along with FREE refills of coffee or tea. All rugs will be donated to local animal shelters.
Older Adult Artist Showcase September 1-30
Attend a special reception on Wednesday, September 6, 4-5:30 pm, where you can meet the artists of our showcase and engage in lively conversations. RSVP to Dana by September 1. Let’s celebrate the creativity and brilliance of our older adults together.
Senior Resource Fair
Immerse yourself in a vibrant gathering where you can engage with informational speakers, discover community resources, and much more. Breakfast will be provided, so we highly encourage registering for this event.

ThinkFirst Fall Prevention Class
Falls are the leading cause of unintentional injury deaths for people over age 65, and a leading reason for emergency room visits in the United States each year. Falls can cause brain injuries, hip fractures and other devastating consequences. Many falls could be avoided through simple preventative measures. ThinkFirst To Prevent Falls is now available as a presentation on the basics of fall prevention for older adults.

Dissecting Diabetes
Join Chinook Pharmacy as they discuss the effects of Diabetes on the body. What is happening in the body of someone effected by Diabetes? Why do people get Diabetes? Ways to recognize symptoms of Diabetes. Discussing new and innovative treatment options to empower individuals to take control of Diabetes.

High Plains Environmental Bus Tour
We will tour the living laboratory at High Plains Environmental Center, while discovering how-to live-in harmony with the land. We will explore the connection between sustainable living and ecological processes that foster personal and community well-being. After the tour we will stop for lunch. The trip includes transportation and tour. Lunch is on your own.

Drug Take Back
Please bring any expired, unwanted, or unused prescription and nonprescription medications for proper disposal to the Lafayette Senior Center on September 12th from 10:30-11:30am. Brought to you by the Lafayette Senior Center in partnership with the Lafayette Police Department.
