2024 Medicare Updates presented by Medicare Teachers Inc.  

The Medicare Annual Election Period is October 15 – December 7. If you are on Medicare, you might feel bombarded with mail, TV ads, and phone calls this time of year. This class will review the basics of Medicare Advantage and Part D prescription drug plans and give you an overview of changes to expect in 2024. Afterward, please visit our informational booth if you have specific questions about the 2024 plans.

Strengthening Supports for Older Adults in Boulder County:  Abuse, Neglect, and Financial Exploitation 
Join the Boulder County Justice Coalition for ALL (Abuse in Later Life) — “JCALL” — to learn more about abuse, neglect, and financial exploitation in later life.  During the event, adults aged 50 and over, their families, and caregivers will gain a better understanding about types of abuse, learn how to recognize and address instances of abuse when they occur and talk with local service providers on how to get appropriate assistance, so that all community members have reliable information and access to available services.

Spooktacular Event and Vaccine Clinic 

Come by the Senior Center wearing your Spooktacular Costume and join others as we laugh, play games, dance, and have a spooky lunch.  Wear your favorite costume and burn those holiday calories at our howling dance party. Lunch and drinks provided. Door prizes for best costumes. Additionally, Boulder County Public Health will be available for vaccines.

Flamenco Fitness Class  

Have you ever wanted to have as much fun as a Flamenco Dancer? Well, now you can!  Join Mariana Ole for Flamenco Classes. If the classes fill up and students are wanting to learn more, we will extend the lessons here at the Senior Center!

Birds of Lafayette; An introduction to knowing and enjoying birds of our area 

Birds of Lafayette; An introduction to knowing and enjoying birds of our area. Join naturalist, Martin Ogle, for a fascinating talk about birdwatching in Lafayette. We’ll learn the basics of how to attract or find birds, how to recognize several common or special birds of note and about how birding can open up a whole new world in our everyday lives! Come with your curiosity, your questions, and your experiences to share. We’ll also discuss ideas for other programs with Open Space.

Are you 50+ and looking for others to hike or bike with? If you answered ‘yes, this club is for you! Join other for 9am hikes beginning at the trailhead; or 9am bike rides starting at the Lafayette Senior Center. Pre-register is preferred, due to weather changes. Sit back and enjoy the beautiful fall scenery from Estes Park through Nederland.  We will stop for lunch at Smokin’ Dave’s BBQ in Estes Park, continuing for a visit in Nederland.  Dress appropriately and bring money for lunch.  Price includes transportation.

Little Apothecary -Botanical Facial Serum Workshop

Learn about a variety of organic botanicals & oils that can nourish and support your skin. Create your very own custom botanical face serum just right for your skin type.  Tour includes making your own face serum.  We will walk from the senior center to the Little Apothecary.

HEARING CLINIC

Family Hearing provides free audiology services to include ear screenings, cleaning and checking of ears, as well as cleaning and inspecting of hearing aids. They’re visiting the Lafayette Senior Center on the 2nd Tuesday of every other month.
