Elsie Amis turned 105 on July 5th of this year. She was born Elsie Hertzke in Lyons in 1908 and has lived in the Boulder area all of her life, except for the 5 years she spent in Kansas helping her sister run a restaurant business.
That’s where she met her husband, Charlie Amis. She soon moved her family back to Colorado and raised daughters Charlee, Erdice and Velda. She lived independently until she was 85 years old then moved in with her youngest daughter in Westminster until the fall of 2009.
She has been a part of the community at Broomfield Skilled Nursing and Rehabilitation Center ever since. Elsie has 9 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.
Elsie celebrated with a small group of ladies with whom she socializes daily by going to the local ice cream shop.
Family members will mark this rare and happy milestone on August 30th with a celebration in her honor.
