Growing Senior Population Brings New Jobs to Boulder, Broomfield Counties
Local Business Plans to Hire 40 Professional Senior Caregivers ~
LAFAYETTE, Colo. – As America’s aging population grows, a local senior care company is gearing up to meet the expected need for services. The Home Instead Senior Care office serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties estimates it will add 40 professional CAREGiversSM to its staff through the end of 2016 and the first quarter of 2017.
Colorado’s senior population is growing – fast. Between 2000 and 2010, the number of adults aged 65-plus grew faster than the state population: 32 percent compared with 17 percent. As the baby boomer population continues to age, there is an increasing need for professional caregivers trained to help seniors age safely and stay independent in their own homes while lightening the load for their family members.
“Whether a senior just needs advanced, round-the-clock Alzheimer’s or memory care, reminders to take their medication or complete hygiene tasks, transportation or help with light housekeeping and cleaning, having a professional CAREGiver can make a huge difference in the lives of seniors and their family members,” said Mike Lammers, owner of the Home Instead Senior Care office serving Boulder and Broomfield Counties. “These are things that family members just can’t do all the time, particularly when they are working and have other family obligations. Our services provide a respite to family caregivers who may feel overwhelmed and need additional support.”
Working as a caregiver provides a positive, fulfilling opportunity for people of all backgrounds and ages, said Lammers.
“We have CAREGivers from every walk of life, and every age group,” says Lammers. “In fact, we’ve discovered that seniors themselves make great CAREGivers and find it rewarding to care for others in need.”
