The Apartments at Cinnamon Park will provide affordable housing for 25 low-income older adults in Longmont ~
LONGMONT, Colorado, April 1, 2022: Older adults facing economic insecurity will move into the soon to be completed, “The Apartments at Cinnamon Park” in early April 2022. To celebrate the grand opening of this two-story affordable housing community, Senior Housing Options (https://seniorhousingoptions.
Cinnamon Park Assisted Living, located next door to The Apartments at Cinnamon Park, is home to 48 older adults. The property was originally developed in 1984 by a group of local physicians. Senior Housing Options acquired the property in 1992 with the intention of building on the vacant land adjacent to the existing assisted living buildings. Senior Housing Options whose mission is to provide residential communities and caring services to enrich the lives of older adults in Colorado, is excited to further their mission in the Longmont community by creating 25 new affordable housing units for adults 62 and older.
Residents who will call The Apartments at Cinnamon Park home, may have experienced homelessness. “Homelessness among older adults is increasing; among single homeless adults, approximately half are ages 50 and older. Of these, almost half first became homeless after age 50. Adults ages 50 and older who are homeless are experiencing health conditions—including cognitive and functional impairment—20 years earlier than their housed counterparts. Ending homelessness among older adults will require increasing the supply of affordable housing, targeted prevention efforts, and expanding permanent supportive housing, adapted to older adult needs” (Source: American Society on Aging). The Apartments at Cinnamon Park will provide a long-term affordable home to individuals, lengthening their lives and improving their mental wellness. It will provide independence to those who may currently be living with relatives or friends, or who may have been forced out of their homes or apartments due to rising rental rates.
