Gov. John Hickenlooper to go “Over the Edge” During Annual Cancer League of Colorado Fundraiser
Fearless Governor and More Than 220 Individuals to Rappel Down 29 Stories at 1600 Glenarm Place to Raise Money for Colorado-Based Cancer Research
DENVER – On September 8th, 9th and 10th more than 220 great Coloradans including Gov. John Hickenlooper are expected to participate in Denver’s most thrilling charity event, Over the Edge. Participants will rappel down the 29 stories of 1600 Glenarm Place, owned by RedPeak Properties, located in the heart of the Denver Theatre District. The annual fundraising event for Cancer League of Colorado expects to raise over $425,000 this year to fund research in the fight against cancer. Rappellers and their supporters will enjoy the formal events Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, with exciting parties on Thursday and Friday evenings.
All monies raised from Over the Edge go directly to support cancer research and patient services here in Colorado. Cancer League of Colorado is unique to non-profits as it has no paid staff and no offices. All operating expenses are covered by membership dues and Cancer League’s volunteer staff. Cancer League of Colorado now has more than 400 volunteer members who share the commitment to fight cancer and support cancer research. Since 1985, Cancer League has donated over $14 million in grants toward cancer research and patient services in Colorado.
To participate, set your goals high and raise a minimum of $1,000 in pledges. Register at www.denverovertheedge.com and create a donation page. Your donation page will provide a safe and secure way for your friends and family to easily donate to your rappel. Prizes will be awarded to the top fundraisers and fundraising teams. Last year’s top fundraiser, Courtney Mizel, raised over $35,000.
Whether you are an accomplished climber or a first-time rappeller whose only previous use of a carabineer is as a key chain, this event is for you.
