“Girls Explore Entrepreneurship” Brings Business, Design and Tech Education to Young Women Across the Front Range

Headlined by startup CEO Sue Heilbronner, the event, founded by Maker Bolder, promotes the inquiry and exploration of entrepreneurship for middle- and high-school aged girls.

DENVER, Colo. – Women, tech, entrepreneurship, business and startup culture are hot topics in the Front Range business community. November 5, 2016, Maker Bolder blends all of these together during Girls Explore Entrepreneurship.

This enlightening evening, featuring former federal prosecutor and current CEO and Co-Founder of Boulder-based MergeLane, Sue Heilbronner, offers middle and high-school aged girls the opportunity to envision what is possible for women in the startup world today and in the future.

Details: Nov. 5, 2016 at the Boulder Jewish Community Center from 5-9 pm

“It’s critical for our future generations that girls be exposed to the challenging, yet rewarding path of entrepreneurship,” says Martha Lanaghen, CEO and Co-Founder of Maker Bolder. “Our mission is to provide an environment where girls and their parents can come together and learn from industry leaders, ask questions and expand upon their natural interests and curiosities. This is imperative for their personal growth and to help establish and foster their future careers.”

The evening begins with “Maker Lab” time — an open hour with exhibits and activities for girls to create and explore. Following Maker Lab, attendees can enjoy light appetizers, refreshments and a presentation from one of America’s most accomplished and dynamic women executives, Sue Heilbronner.

Participants conclude the evening with a hands-on Design Thinking challenge created by Zach Nies from Tech Stars. This problem-solving challenge provides the girls and their parents the opportunity to roll their sleeves up and actively work to solve a problem while they are learning more about Design Thinking principles and processes.

“We hope that the lessons and tools the girls take away from the event will open their eyes and minds to all the opportunities they have.” Heilbronner continues, “This is a great chance for girls and their parents to have meaningful conversations about this pivotal time in their lives, and to think about what their passions and interests are and how they can turn those into a fulfilling entrepreneurial career.”
