Free Community Health Classes Offered in March

Evergreen—Healthier Living Colorado-Diabetes™—Wednesdays, March 1-April 5, 1-3:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Seniors’ Resource Center, 5120 Highway 73, Evergreen, CO 80439. This class is designed for people living with diabetes and their caregivers and teaches making healthy choices and self-management skills. It is highly participatory, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their diabetes and maintain an active fulfilling life. Lakewood—Healthier Living Colorado™—Tuesdays, March 7-April 11 from 5-7:30 p.m. at the Centura Belmar Neighborhood Health Center, 7551 W. Alameda Ave., Lakewood, CO 80226. This program helps people deal with the challenges of living with an ongoing health condition such as heart disease, a lung condition, diabetes or arthritis. Golden—Chronic Pain Self-Management—Thursdays, March 9-April 13 from 5-7:30 p.m. on at the Centura Golden Neighborhood Health Center, 750 Warner Drive, Golden, CO 80401. This free program helps people deal with the challenges of living with chronic pain. Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives. Evergreen—National Diabetes Prevention Program—Wednesdays, March 22, 2017-March 22, 2018. The class meets for 16 weekly sessions followed by six monthly sessions from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Evergreen Buchanan Park Recreation Center, 32003 Ellingwood Trail, Evergreen, CO 80439. If you have pre-diabetes or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes, it’s time to take charge of your health. The National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), utilizes lifestyle change intervention to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes.
