Free Community Health Classes Offered in July
COAW, the Consortium for Older Adult Wellness, is offering free community health classes that begin in July. Register at the contacts listed. COAW is a nonprofit organization that provides health and wellness leader trainings, community health classes and falls prevention screenings throughout Colorado to assist individuals and communities in achieving better health. Lakewood–National Diabetes Prevention-Spanish Program–Tuesdays, July 11, 2017-July 11, 2018 from 5:30-6:30 p.m. at the Centura Belmar Neighborhood Health Center, 7551 W. Alameda Ave., Lakewood, CO 80226. This program is delivered in Spanish. If you have pre-diabetes or other risk factors for type 2 diabetes, it’s time to take charge of your health. The National Diabetes Prevention Program, led by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), utilizes lifestyle change intervention to reduce your risk of type 2 diabetes. Wheat Ridge –Chronic Pain Self-Management–Thursdays, July 27-Aug. 31 from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. on at the Centura Golden Neighborhood Health Center, 750 Warner Drive, Golden, CO 80401. This free program helps people deal with the challenges of living with chronic pain. Classes are highly participative, where mutual support and success build the participants’ confidence in their ability to manage their health and maintain active and fulfilling lives.
