Fitness Chain Opening First Denver Club With Silver Sneakers Program
One of America’s fastest growing fitness companies is now opening its first Denver area club.
Youfit Health Clubs (www.youfit.com) is opening new clubs at the rate of four per month. The company’s now entering five new states — including Colorado, with a club opening at 15220 E. 6th Avenue in Aurora. The Aurora club is Youfit’s 64th in America. A new club in Thornton is coming soon. And Youfit is one of the national companies offering the Silver Sneakers program for seniors, which provides free membership if you’re a member of most insurance companies, and fitness programs developed specifically for them.
Youfit operates on a business model that’s unusual in the tradition-bound health club industry.
“We’ve tried to offer a concept — and an experience — that’s much different than the usual health club,” says company Founder/President Rick Berks. “We’re not geared toward body builders or ‘gym rats’, but instead toward the average person who just wants to stay in shape. We don’t have long-term contracts you pay month-to-month. We don’t have sales people, so there’s no one pressuring you to join. And we believe we have the Greenest clubs in America. For example, when you walk in, you’ll be walking on floors made of recycled tires or Nike ‘grind’ recycled sneakers! And the heating/cooling, water, and power systems are all Green.”
The “Youfit” name is the company’s philosophy. These are clubs where “you” can “fit” in, without feeling uncomfortable, and without dealing with pushy sales people. The equipment is all new, and all American-made. And the fees are likely the lowest you’ll see for a first-class club.
“Believe it or not, I’ve actually had people tell me they’d have to get in shape before walking into a health club,” Rick Berks says. “But we’re building clubs for people who don’t want to deal with the trauma and drama of the usual health club. And we’re very excited about Colorado, because this is a state that really values health and fitness.”
