From Autumn Events to Holiday Happenings, Golden is the Place to Be!

Summer might be coming to a close, but beautiful Golden, Colorado is looking ahead to a colorful fall and happy holiday with annual events we’ve come to know and love and new happenings to discover. Here is  rundown of “what’s new” from Golden…

Golden’s Restaurant Revival – There’s a restaurant boom in Golden. The much-anticipated Tributary Food Hall & Drinkery brings the food hall craze to Golden with notable chefs and curated restaurants serving up an exciting array of artisan fare and specialty cocktails at 701 12th Street. This vibrant spot offers inspired cuisine that you can sit and savor in a cool, hip environment. Or grab and go a gourmet lunch from Tributary and enjoy it on the trail. (Full press packet attached)

Also set to open, Bella Colibri will bring rustic elegance and five-star, creative Italian cuisine to Golden and pay tribute to Golden restauranteur Dean Valdez’s Italian heritage. Brandon Bortles of the celebrated Abejas will open Nosu Ramen in the coming weeks. Golden’s first vegan restaurant. Derive Bistro, the popular food truck, opened its doors as a brick and mortar on Washington Ave. The Buffalo Rose’s refresh has brought a new energy with its modern take on a long-time favorite. Southwest Golden is now home to Over Yoder Brewing Company (Golden’s seventh brewery!) and Vice Kitchen Wine Whiskey, a perfect pre-Red Rocks dining option.

 Colorado Classic to Zoom Through Golden on August 24th –  Golden hosts the third stage of the 2019 Colorado Classic, the only women’s stand-alone stage race in the Western Hemisphere on the Union Cyclists Internationale calendar and USA Cycling’s Pro Road Tour.  The race begins at 11;30 under Golden’s Welcome Arch. Visit the free wellness EXPO at Parfet Park from 10 a.m.– 2 p.m.

August Events – Summer isn’t over yet! In addition to the Colorado Classic, don’t miss Golden Weekends through August, Golden Fine Arts Festival on August 17 +18, Movies & Music in the Park on Fridays in August or the weekly Farmers Markets which run until October 5th. 

Golden’s Sidewalk Sale Returns September 28 – Golden is home to a variety of mostly locally owned shops and galleries. Merchants will set out deep discounts, from local fashions to great deals on outdoor gear. Bargain hunters get ready to “strike gold” with deals in Golden! 

Fall Colors in Golden  – Don’t miss the autumn’s beauty by getting stuck on the Interstate with other leaf peepers. Check out fall foliage adventures in nearby Golden! Who not enjoy fall foliage by foot – hiking is a beautiful way to take in the gold of the season in Golden! 

Golden Glass Orb Treasure Hunt – The great “Golden Glass Orb Treasure Hunt” kicks off October 4th and three orbs will be placed somewhere in Golden city limits each Friday, Saturday, and Sunday.  “Finders” are “keepers” of handcrafted treasures.

Knock Your Boots Off Chili Cook-off & Beer Tasting – October 12- A Golden tradition, the Chili Cook-Off and Beer Tasting is presented by Golden Chamber of Commerce and Coors Distributing Company and fearures over 30 chili competitors, 90 different beers and fun. 

Tickets on Sale in August for the Polar Express at the Colorado Railroad Museum – Always a sell-out, book early for this annual tradition. Museum member ticket sales open August 1st and general ticket sales on August 6th. The story of The Polar Express is being theatrically re-created at the Colorado Railroad Museum so you can enjo  the magic and wonder of the season!

Holiday Art Market at Foothills Art Center – Opening Nov. 18, Golden’s beloved annual Holiday Art Market (HART) at Foothills Art Center features the creations of over 100 local Colorado artists working in the highest standards of handcraft, including fine ceramics, fiber, glass work, jewelry, paintings, woodworking, photography, holiday items, and more. HART is a “cool” holiday art market and an ideal shopping destination for unique gifts.

Small Business Saturday, November 29 – Shop and dine in Golden on Small Business Saturday to support our incredible local merchants. With plenty of shops from all throughout Golden, holiday shopping will be finished in no time.

Candlelight Walk & Holiday Fireworks – December 6 – Experience the beauty of the season while walking down Washington Avenue, candle in hand, singing carols at the Candlelight Walk, which offers an authentic way to open the season and ends in a beautiful fireworks display illuminating Clear Creek and downtown Golden. The Walk is free and open to all.

Olde Golden Christmas Parades – December 7, 14 & 21 – Olde Golden Christmas Parades are authentic and historic. Downtown Golden becomes a festive holiday center with traditional decorations and fun family events. The free Olde Golden Christmas Parades on three Saturdays in December start at 10:30 a.m. with cowboys on horses, floats, old cars, elves, the Grinch in his Corvette, and of course, Santa.
