Eldora Announces Opening Day For The 2019/20 Season

NEDERLAND, Colo. – Sept. 4, 2019 – Eldora, the winter playground for Boulder County and greater Denver, is excited to announce opening and closing dates for the 2019/20 winter season. Eldora is scheduled to open for skiing and riding on Friday, November 15, 2019, and close on Sunday, April 12, 2020.

For Ikon Pass holders, access to Eldora’s alpine lifts and trails is unlimited, with no restrictions or blackout dates. Eldora is the closest Ikon resort to Boulder County and greater Denver, just 21 miles from Boulder and less than 50 from Denver.

“Coming off a record season and productive summer, we’re thrilled to announce that Eldora’s winter season will start on November 15, 2019, a full week earlier than our typical opening,” says Brent Tregaskis, Eldora’s President and General Manager. “We’re also excited to introduce improvements that will definitely enhance our guests’ experiences here at Eldora. This will be another amazing season. Bring on the snow!”

Eldora staffers have been working hard this summer on many resort improvements designed to support an array of unique, crafted guest experiences. For the 2019/20 winter season, guests can expect:

  • Woodward Terrain Park Development – Eldora is set to acquire a new Zaugg terrain-shaping machine, which will allow our park shapers to efficiently build consistent and innovative park features, further cementing Eldora as the Front Range’s best terrain-park destination.
  • Rental/Retail Shop Upgrade – Eldora’s tune shop now features a state-of-the-art Wintersteiger Mercury ski-and-board service machine capable of tuning and waxing up to 30 pairs of skis per hour, enhancing our ability to deliver top-quality ski and board care and get our guests back out on the slopes quickly.
  • Food & Beverage Improvements – Upgrades to equipment and facilities will ensure that Eldora continues to offer guests a greater variety of high-quality food and beverage options derived from local sources whenever possible.
  • Sustainability Investments – In support of Eldora’s Play Forever sustainability initiative, Eldora has purchased two new hybrid gas-electric parking-lot busses and one electric bus, and it is one of an exclusive group of resorts testing a new zero-emission electric snowmobile for potential use in mountain operations.

Eldora is the only ski area served by RTD, Colorado’s largest public transportation system, with regular bus service from downtown Boulder straight to the high-speed Alpenglow chairlift and back. Eldora strongly encourages RTD ridership and carpooling as part of its Play Forever sustainability initiative.
