Bloomin’ Buckets and Ice Cream
The “Bloomin’ Bucket Brigade” will be back to distribute “container gardens” to participants of the Eagle View Adult Center. Each bucket contains a tomato plant perfect for a porch or patio. Sign up by May 20 to reserve your plant! Then join us on Monday, June 6 to pick up your bucket and enjoy an ice cream social with some of the volunteers that made this project possible. Harmony Angels, Harmony Gardens, Brighton Boys & Girls Club, Home Depot, and others. Note: Only one plant per household please!

Relay for Life Table
Stop by the American Cancer Society table! They will be here to encourage all Eagle View cancer survivors to attend the FREE survivor event at Brighton’s Relay for Life on Friday, June 17. You can also register to be a participant in the relay held from Friday evening, June 17 through Saturday morning at Carmichael Park. A short presentation will be given before lunch by a cancer survivor.

Rhino Conservation
Zookeeper and conservationist Dave Johnson is coming back! He will talk about zoo keeping, conservation work, climbing mountains, and writing books for a cause he loves – RHINOS! Dave has traveled to Nepal working to save the rhinos. He is currently involved in “Climbing for Rhinos” where he has climbed many Colorado 14’ers and is climbing Kilimanjaro in August to raise money and awareness for Rhino conservation. All fees collected will go to Dave’s fundraising efforts.

Anyone who is adjusting to vision loss is welcome to attend the Low Vision Support Group for support and information. The June speaker is Kelly who has been blind her entire life. Kelly’s spear headed a low vision department of Sprint here in Denver for clients and her coworkers. She will talk about the challenges she faces as a person with no vision in the work place. 2016 Brighton Fire Rescue Safety Expo
Join Brighton Fire Rescue District on Saturday, May 21 for a day of fun, games and safety messages at the Annual Safety Expo. The event takes place at the Prairie Center Shopping area near Ross. There will be a fire sprinkler and kitchen fire demonstration, tower ladder rescue display, arson dog demonstration, Jaws of Life demonstration and much more. It’s a great opportunity for the community to interact with BFRD firefighters and Brighton Police officers, and learn about fire safety. Summerfest (formerly Culturefest) is an all-day event on Main Street. Enjoy free entertainment – 10:30 a.m. Dixie Leadfoot (Rockabilly), 12:30 p.m. The Margarita Bothers (summer hits) and 2:30 Rick Garcia Band (Tex Mex). Business booths will offer samples, sales, and giveaways and Main Street business will have special sales. The Community, Health, and Safety Expos will feature information booths on local non-profits, area health organizations, and police/fire protection.
