Celebrating 50 years of bringing one of the most popular summer music event to the Denver area, Drums Along the Rockies will return to Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, July 6.
Recognized as a popular “all age” entertainment event, Drums Along the Rockies has thrilled tens of thousands with a variety of musical genres, from Broadway tunes, jazz, classical and even some rock n roll.
This year’s Diamond edition will feature eight of the nation’s top drum and bugle corps in an evening of the exciting sound and color that is marching music’s major league. Defending World Champion Blue Devils of Concord, CA will go head-to-head in competition with Carolina Crown of Ft. Mill, SC and fellow Californian Santa Clara Vanguard. Two local favorites, Denver’s Blue Knights and Troopers of Casper, WY will seek top honors as will The Academy of Tempe, AZ; Cascades, Seattle, WA; and Spokane’s Thunder.
Hosted by Ascend Performing Arts with support from Xerox, 850 KOA AM radio, and the Denver Post Community, the event will provide fans the ultimate drum corps experience, from open-to-the-public warm-ups in the parking lot to powerful field performances of brass, percussion and colorguard. A “must” for music lovers of any age, Drums Along the Rockies offers a look at some of the most talented young musicians in the nation.
