Drums Along the Rockies

A spectacle of sight and sound, Drums Along the Rockies returns to Sports Authority Field at Mile High on Saturday, July 9 in one of the Rocky Mountain region’s most popular family summer music events.

A Drums Corps International competition, the event has attracted four of the top nine corps in last year’s World Championship standings. A total of 10 corps will take the field for an entertaining evening including 2015 World Champion Blue Devils of Concord, CA; 5th place Vanguard, Santa Clara, CA; 6th place Blue Knights of Denver, CO; and 9th place Cavaliers from Rosemont, IL. Joining the field will be Casper, WY’s Troopers; Cascades of Seattle, WA; Portland’s Oregon Crusaders; Columbians from Pasco, WA: Gold from San Diego, CA; and Golden Empire of Bakersfield, CA.

In its 53rd year, Drums Along the Rockies is annually one of the best and most popular events of its kind. The evening’s performances feature the powerful sounds and colorful sights unique to the marching arts. The arrangements for brass, percussion and color guard combined with intricate marching maneuvers are often compared to “a Broadway musical on a football field”.

Beginning at 4pm, open to the public “pre-game” activities are always festive with tailgating, a hospitality tent with food and refreshment and high-spirited entertainment by the Bronco Brass and Stampede drumline. “In the Lot” warm-ups by the corps is an attraction most don’t want to miss.

Produced by Colorado non-profit Ascend Performing Arts, with support from the Xerox and Veritiv Corporation, proceeds from the event support the organization’s purpose to further the education and growth of young people through participation in high-caliber performing arts programs.
