Denver Public Defender Turned Full-Time Musician Plays Dickens Opera House Friday, April 19
Littleton-based musician, Mike Massé, recently released a video of his cover of Berlin’s “The Metro.” The video was filmed on an RTD train, at Union Station, Larimer Square, and the 16th Street Mall, and has caught the attention of the band Berlin, and lead singer Terri Nunn, who shared it on Twitter and Facebook.
This is not the first time Mike’s covers have captured the attention of the original artists. Toto, Boston, Sarah McLachlan, Asia, and others have expressed love and gratitude for his renditions of their songs. Toto’s Steve Porcaro cites Mike’s cover of “Africa” as his favorite. In fact some of the original members of the band Boston liked his Boston covers on YouTube so much that they asked him to front them for some performances of all classic Boston songs – some of the most challenging rock vocals ever recorded. And they aren’t the only ones who appreciate his covers. Mike has more than 80 million views on YouTube and has performed to sold-out crowds around the world.
Mike recently performed an evening of Beatles’ music with his band Rubber Souls, accompanied by the Denver Pops Orchestra. He also appeared in a national television commercial for Google, a tribute to Prince that aired during the 2017 Grammys broadcast.
Mike’s story might be an interesting for your readers—not only is he public defender turned full-time musician, but also a local guy who is catching the attention of the artists he has been listening to most of his life.
Mike performs regularly for private and public events around Denver. His next local show will be with the Mike Massé Band at the Dickens Opera House in Longmont on Friday, April 19, 2019. https://dickensoperahouse.worldsecuresystems.com/shows/mike-masse-band
