Creative Eldering: Unfriendly Energy: Electromagnetic Pollution
All around you are invisible electromagnetic frequencies (EMF’s). This errant energy stems from your televisions, computers, Wi-Fi routers, cable boxes, radios, microwave ovens, cell phones, and other common household items. Though the energy is invisible, it is not harmless, in fact, many studies show that this electromagnetic pollution may be carcinogenic.
Throughout my career as a (w)holistic health and wellness practitioner, many patients come to me with a variety of symptoms that have gone undiagnosed by traditional medical doctors. These symptoms range from headaches and anxiety to high blood pressure and mineral imbalances. When there is no obvious explanation for these issues, I question my patients about their home and work environments, often finding that people with many seemingly unrelated symptoms are those living in homes or working in places where they are inundated with modern technology that emits high levels of electromagnetic pollution. I have repeatedly found “that most human-made energy forms prove incompatible with the human body—interfering not only with individual cellular processes, but with the delicate energetic system as a whole” (Your Body Can Talk, 2nd Edition, 165).
Neurological symptoms of Electromagnetic imbalances include headaches and migraines, dizziness, hearing disturbances, visual disturbances, fatigue, tingling, numbness disorientation, worsening of multiple sclerosis symptoms, trouble concentrating and diminished cognition.
Emotional symptoms of electromagnetic imbalances include anxiety, depression, irritability, anger and rage.
Hormonal symptoms of electromagnetic imbalances include increased cortisol, unbalanced thyroid and unbalanced male/female hormones.
Cardiac symptoms of electromagnetic imbalances include arrhythmia (irregular heart beat), tachycardia (rapid heart rate) and high blood pressure.
General symptoms of electromagnetic imbalances include nausea, skin rashes, worsening of diabetes, mineral imbalances and rapid aging.
While you may not be able to fully eliminate all sources of electromagnetic pollution within your home or work environments, there are steps you can take in order to minimize your exposure to EMF’s. Removing all electronic devises from your bedroom is one of the greatest steps you can take. One of the most harmful sources of EMF’s are heating blankets. “Seven or eight hours of exposure while sleeping continually bombarded the body with an excessive dosage of electricity for that period, resulting in great risks for illness or disease” (Your Body Can Talk, 2nd Edition, 173). Replacing your heating blanket or heating pads with heavier handmade quilts or water filled heating pads is a great step in minimizing the electromagnetic pollution you are exposed to. Microwaves ovens are also a significant source of EMF’s. Food cooked in microwave ovens is radiated and chemically altered and harmful to the body. I strongly suggest that you “give a hearty heave to your radiation- producing, protein-denaturing microwave oven” (Your Aging Body Can Talk, 113). You may choose to remove these items for a temporary period of time in order to see if they negatively affect your health and wellness. If you notice an increase in the way you feel after two weeks of living or working in an environment where you have removed your electronic devices, you may consider removing them permanently.
If you are unable to remove all EMF emitting items from your home and work environment, you may want to buy an EMF clearing Device. Many effective devices exist and can easily be purchased over the internet.
