COPD Community Education Workshop
The National Heart, Lung and Blood Institute estimates that 12 million adults have Chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and another 12 million are undiagnosed or developing COPD.
On Wednesday, September 3 in Denver, CO, the American Association of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Rehabilitation (AACVPR) in conjunction with the COPD Foundation, is conducting a COPD COMMUNITY EDUCATION WORKSHOP to bring awareness and provide education regarding COPD. If you are a patient, caregiver or a healthcare provider, this workshop will provide resources, educational presentations, and support for the Denver community for COPD.
COPD kills more women than men each year. In 2006, COPD killed more American women than breast cancer, Alzheimer’s and diabetes.
Every four minutes an individual dies of COPD. COPD cost the U.S. government approximately $42.6 billion in both direct and indirect expenses in 2007. A majority of those expenses are due to hospitalizations, which can be prevented with better diagnosis and management practices.
If you had a debilitating disease that made you fight for every breath, impaired your quality of life, and is the 3rd leading cause of death, wouldn’t you want to know more about it?
