Colorado Wind Ensemble Symphonic Flourishes with Joseph Martin
The Colorado Wind Ensemble, the metro area’s urban wind symphony, opens its 33rd season featuring fabulous guest conductors with Symphonic Flourishes: A Celebratory Journey on Saturday, October 25 at 7:30pm at Littleton United Methodist Church, 5894 S Datura St, Littleton 80120.
Guest conductor Dr. Joseph Martin leads the CWE in a program of exciting celebratory music, including the mystic sounds of La Mezquita de Córdoba by Julie Giroux; the reverent hymn Be Thou My Vision beautifully set by David Gillingham; Flourishes and Meditations, a set of variations on a Renaissance tune ranging from “cubist kaleidoscope” to “speed demon” by Michael Gandolfi; Natalis, an eloquent testimony to the human spirit by Martin Ellerby; A Little Russian Circus replete with representations of trapeze and clowns by Anthony DiLorenzo; and Aurora Awakes by John Mackey, inspired by the goddess Aurora.
