Colorado Charitable Bingo Association Urges Public to Vote YES on Amendment F to Help Nonprofits Raise Critical Funds for Those in Need

(October 20, 2022) – For more than 70 years, many of Colorado’s nonprofit organizations have relied on revenue generated from charitable bingo games to help meet their mission to serve others in need. Unfortunately, a trend is threatening their ability to raise critical funds through charitable bingo.

Since 1991, Colorado has seen a 25% reduction in charitable bingo licenses and a 68% reduction in charitable bingo play. The reason is simple- a lack of volunteers to help run these charitable bingo games.

Nonprofit organizations around the state support an upcoming November ballot measure (Amendment F) that would bring current Colorado’s outdated constitution and give charitable organizations the option to compensate bingo volunteers up to the minimum wage to help run our charitable bingo events.

“The compensation prohibition adopted in 1980 is severely outdated and our bingo laws need to be more reflective of today’s reality,” said Corky Kyle, Executive Vice-President of the Colorado Charitable Bingo Association (CCBA). “Unlike general gambling, charitable bingo revenues are reinvested into the communities Coloradoans live and work. These funds are critical to these organizations and our communities.”

The CCBA, including the organizations below, urges everyone to vote YES on Amendment F this November 8th and support all the important work charities do for communities, families, and individuals across Colorado.
