Colorado Ballet And Ni Shang Dance Academy To Perform At The Children’s Museum Of Denver
~ Performances Are A Part Of Denver Arts Week, An Eight Day Celebration Of Denver’s Arts Community, November 1-9 ~
Denver, CO – Whether they’re watching ballerinas twirl around the theater or seeing beautiful steps of traditional Chinese dances for the first time, children can experience dance up-close and in a kid-friendly setting.
Ni Shang Dance Academy will show children five traditional Chinese dances, each less than five minutes long – ideal for a toddler’s attention span. The dances celebrate China’s history and regions, including highlights from the Tang Dynasty (618-907 AD) and Dai region in southern China. The routines will be performed by an instructor and children, ages 4-12 years old.
Colorado Ballet dancers will perform short excerpts from classic fairy tales like Cinderella and Sleeping Beauty.
After the performances, children will learn about the fundamentals of ballet including how the stories were translated into dance, the use of pointe shoes and tutus, and men’s role in dance.
These performances are a part of the Museum’s participation in Denver Arts Week. In addition to the dance performances, the Museum will offer special arts programming every day, November 1-9 at 1 p.m. Each day is different. For a complete listing, view the calendar at mychildsmuseum.org.
