Denver, CO – Every year the Colorado Assisted Living Association recognizes the most outstanding caregivers and administrators. The association values this as one of the most important things it does to recognize those who work in the assisted living industry and the sacrifices they make in the care of elderly residents.

This year’s edition of the CALA Awards was held at the Thursday Awards Luncheon during the 2015 Fall Conference, at the Ameristar Casino in Blackhawk Colorado on Thursday, October 29th, 2015.

This year’s edition was highly competitive with most nominees showing exemplary performances in their respective categories.

Winners List

The most outstanding caregiver category was won by Annemie Williams, a resident assistant at Garden Square of Westlake in Greeley, CO.

The most outstanding department director was won by Jack Miller a Maintenance Director at The Courtyard of Loveland, CO.

The outstanding administrator (32 beds or less) award was won by Trace Waite of Aspen Ridge Alzheimer’s care special care center, Grand Junction, CO

The outstanding executive director (32 beds or less) for the year 2015 was none other than Shirley McNeff of The Bridge at Longmont in Longmont CO

Selection criteria per category
The most outstanding caregiver selection criteria involved a panel of volunteer judges who aim at picking the nominee who follows the philosophies of person direct care. Also, the criterion aimed at identifying what the person has accomplished above and beyond her daily responsibilities that demonstrate commitment to those in need of care.

The most outstanding department director selection criteria were based on how the nominee has exercised the philosophies of personally directed care. The criteria also sought to find how the individual has gone beyond in demonstrating commitment to Colorado’s Assisted Living residents through their roles and what specific evidence is there to show the person has served with distinction and is a strong mentor to the rest.

The outstanding administrator (32 beds or less) category selection criteria were based on selecting an individual whose action show how he or she has worked to enrich and enhance the lives of aging persons and offered exceptional leadership to other caregivers. The judges also explored examples of how the nominee has served with distinction in a CALA member facility and demonstrated potential in caregiving. Another criterion was evaluating the contributions of the administrator to caring for the needs of seniors.

The outstanding executive director (32 beds or less) selection criteria, was based seeking the executive director who has gone above and beyond in offering exemplary leadership and what actions he/she has taken to enhance the lives of the residents. The selection criteria also looked at how well the director has been in advancing the mission and goals of their facility and what has the executive director done to demonstrate his/her commitment to teamwork in their facility.

The Colorado Assisted Living Association (CALA) was founded in 1982. Since then, CALA has made its mark in the industry and is the only Colorado non-profit association dedicated solely to assisted living. CALA works to assist, promote, inform, educate and advocate for the assisted living industry.
