HOT MEAL DEAL Are you over age 60 and looking for new friends and a nutritious meal that you don’t have to cook? Come to the Volunteers of America dining site at the Clements Community Center. Lunch is served Monday through Thursday and the first Friday of each month at noon. Suggested contribution is $2.50. Call 303-987-4833 by 1 p.m. two business days in advance to reserve a meal. Door-to-door transportation is available for Lakewood residents ages 60 and older that come for lunch. Call 303-987-4826 to register for a ride. Live music most Wednesdays, bingo every other Monday, and SilverSneakers® classes Monday through Thursday.
OLDER ADULT WELLNESS FAIR Friday, May 17 9 a.m.–noon Charles Whitlock Recreation Center, 1555 Dover St. Join us for Lakewood’s annual Older Adult Wellness Fair. Chat with vendors, support service companies, enjoy fitness demonstrations, classes, and balance/strength tests. 9Health will provide health assessments, blood screenings and blood pressure checks (cost may apply). Free snacks, massages and foot care, prizes, giveaways and more! Adults 55 and older wanting to get active, or for family of those who may benefit from this information.
SATURDAY NIGHT DANCE 7-10 p.m., second, third and fourth Saturdays of each month. (Doors open at 6 p.m.) Enjoy three hours of dancing to a live band. Refreshments are served. PREPARING TO HIKE Lakewood is an awesome base camp for day hikers. Exploring our Front Range is a low cost and has the side effect of being incredibly good for you. With so much great hiking so close by, it is important to know how and where to begin. We will present the geography, flora, and fauna, and discuss the simple clothing, equipment, and safety considerations needed. We will also discuss hiking strategies such as pacing, timing, and seasons. This program is free, but preregistration is required. Fri, May 10 10- 11:30 am Free

ART SHOW Showcasing artwork created by talented artists and instructors in the art classes at the City of Lakewood’s Clements Community Center. The Clements Center offers classes and activities for intermediate and advanced abilities in various art mediums.
