Classes for Local Seniors Heat Up in Greater Denver as Weather Cools

As the weather cools down, learning opportunities are heating up for seniors in Aurora and Denver. St. Andrews Village and Harvard Square, Watermark Retirement Communities, have unveiled 58 free classes open to local seniors during the fall session of Watermark University. The initiative brings residents, associates, family members and the public together to teach and take courses on the multiple dimensions of wellness. St. Andrews Village is located at 13801 East Yale Avenue and Harvard Square is located at 10200 East Harvard Avenue.

“Spirituality, emotions, vocation, physical health, social engagement, one’s environment and intellectual enrichment all factor into overall wellbeing for people of all ages,” said Kimberley Backes, Executive Director, Harvard Square. “Watermark University offers seniors opportunities to learn and flourish in these arenas.”

Patrick Raab, Executive Director at St. Andrews Village, shared that involving residents, families, and community experts as teachers and inviting the public to attend enhances the array of topics taught. It also builds new friendships among participants.

Course titles this fall include: Active Minds: Music Appreciation, Aromatherapy, Brain Games, Denver Zoo Outreach: Backyard Wildlife, Expressions in Paint Class, Spanish, Tai Chi, and Tap Dancing,
