Wheat Ridge, CO ~ Beginning in 2009 the Wheat Ridge Police Department, the city, Wheat Ridge 20/20, and LiveWell Wheat Ridge have been engaged in a project intended to improve the safety and quality of life in our neighborhoods. The East Wheat Ridge program focuses on the area between Harlan Street and Sheridan Boulevard because of its classic neighborhoods and proximity to the City of Denver. As part of the project, the City of Wheat Ridge Police Department and its partners are announcing two upcoming events.
On Saturday, May 11th there will be a neighborhood cleanup from 9:00-11:00 a.m. in the East Wheat Ridge Project area. We are inviting our residents to get involved in beautifying the East Wheat Ridge neighborhood. Dumpsters will be available at 6 locations between Sheridan and Fenton from 29th to 33rd. Some items cannot be thrown away in those dumpsters. They include asbestos, chemicals, paint, oil & fuel, herbicides & pesticides, tires or appliances with Freon. A copy of a map showing the locations of all of the dumpsters is attached to this release.
In addition, on June 7th at 6:00 p.m. the Wheat Ridge City Council will hold a neighborhood meeting to discuss a number of subjects including the East Wheat Ridge Project. The meeting will take place at Ye Olde Firehouse on 3232 Depew Street.
The Wheat Ridge Police Department and its partners recognize the importance of enhancing the partnership with the community to reduce crime and prevent neighborhood decline. In addition, we want to increase property value, provide healthy living choices, and attract new and law abiding citizens to our community. We hope all of our residents in the East Wheat Ridge Project area take part in this community building project.
