Death as a Spiritual Teacher: A Workshop with David Chernikoff

Facing death with open eyes and an open heart teaches us to live life with courage, grace, and joy. This workshop will combine short talks by the teacher, partner and small group exercises, guided meditations, and heart-felt discussions in a caring, supportive learning environment. This course is an invitation to truly wake up and celebrate the ‘laughter of the wise.’ Presenter: David Chernikoff, M.Div., L.C.S.W., taught psychology and meditation at Naropa University for many years and has taught workshops on spiritual and psychological aspects of aging throughout the U.S. as well as in Canada and Ireland. Currently, he is one of the guiding teachers of the Insight Meditation Community of Colorado.

Hearing Loss and Dementia

Join acupuncturist Norah Charles for a hands-on demonstration of acupressure self-massage techniques for everyday ailments. Students will learn techniques to bring relief from stomachaches, headaches, tired eyes, cramped feet, and more. No prior massage experience necessary. All techniques can be done while sitting in a chair. Instructor: Norah Charles, MSOM, L.Ac., is a licensed acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist specializing in elder care. SPARK Warm Water Class

This unique class provides enjoyable water-assisted movement to music that stimulates neural pathways, brain activity, muscular strength, and some cardiopulmonary response. Specifically designed for individuals with neurodegenerative diseases, including dementia, Alzheimer’s, and Parkinson’s, who are accompanied by their caregiver or partner. Classes held in warm water leisure pool less than 4 feet deep.
