IN PERSON PROGRAMS

Beginning Bridge. Thursday, October 7 – December 16, 2:30 – 4:30 p.m.  

This eight-session introduction to the challenging and fun game of Bridge is taught by Gerald Mitchell, ACBL Certified Teacher, Bridge Club Director and Manager. West Age Well Center. R/NR $55/$69 

Studio Arts Boulder Pottery Class. Friday, October 8, 2:00 – 3:30 p.m.

Participants will learn about the three fundamentals of pottery to make functional and whimsical pieces: pinch pots, coils, and slabs. 

Munson Farm Tour Meet-up. Friday, October 22, 10:00 – 11:30 a.m.

Mike Munson, of family owned and operated Munson Farms in Boulder, will share history and information about this 40-year-old working vegetable farm and pumpkin patch during this in-person seasonal outing.

Effective Communication Strategies. Wednesday, October 27, 1:00 – 2:30 p.m.

This course will assist caregivers to understand verbal and behavioral communication from someone living with Alzheimer’s or other dementias. Participants will learn communication strategies for meaningful connection with people in early, middle, and late-stage dementia. Presented by the Alzheimer’s Association.

ONLINE PROGRAMS

NCAR Explorer Series: A New Era of Extreme Weather Impacts. Tuesday, October 12, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. 

Dr. James Done will review how scientists are studying extreme weather changes and how ongoing partnerships between science and industry are creating new, usable science and accelerating discovery. 

Collette Travel Presentation: Travel Show. Tuesday, October 19, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.

Meet Collette representative Mandy McCarthy and enjoy a visual travel slide show illustrating various domestic and international trips offered through Older Adult Services in 2022 and 2023. 

CircleTalk. Each Tuesday, starting October 19, 2:00 – 3:00 p.m.

Circle Talk offers a comfortable and engaging space to meet new people, have interesting conversations, share experiences, and learn about others. 

Collecting Recipes – Preserving Memories. Wednesdays, Oct. 20, and Nov. 3, 1:00 – 2:00 p.m.

This two-part class focuses on how to collect, organize, and share family recipes and stories for future generations. This collection of recipes will also make a nice gift to share.

Be Prepared for a Fire: The 15s Presentation. Wednesday, October 20, 3:00 – 4:00 p.m.

This program will review different projects that can be accomplished in various time periods in order to be prepared for a fire.

Sorting Out Compost in Boulder County. Tuesday October 26, 11:00 a.m. – noon

In this interactive presentation, City of Boulder Sustainability Coordinator Ellen Orleans will answer questions about curbside composting vs. backyard composting, what goes in each kind of compost pile, and reasons to compost.

BIFF Film and Discussion. Thursday, October 28, 3:00 – 4:15 p.m.

Join this program to view the selected film, David Crosby: Remember My Name, 2019, 95 minutes, followed by a discussion led by a member of the BIFF film selection committee.
