What’s NEW with Collette Travel: Croatia and Iceland. Monday August 9, 11:00 a.m. – noon.
Join Collette Travel representative Mandy McCarthy to learn about trips to Iceland, as well as Croatia and its Islands, offered through Older Adult Services in 2022. Deadlines for discounted registration for both trips are in August. Questions about other travel destinations also welcome. Enjoy this opportunity to connect with other travel-minded peers and Program Coordinator Whitney Garcia.
On Being Prepared for a Fire: The 15s Presentation. Friday, August 20, 10:00 – 11:00 a.m.
Join this online program to learn about projects that can be done during various periods to be prepared for a fire: 15 months (long term planning and projects), 15 days (ongoing projects that need to be done every year), 15 hours (during a pre-evacuation), and 15 minutes (during evacuation). Handouts and checklists will be provided. Presenter: Sharon Bokan, Small Acreage Coordinator for Colorado State University Extension.
Tea Dance. Friday, August 20, 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
Dance at the West Age Well Center, 909 Arapahoe Ave., Boulder, to live music provided by Tom Yook, a favorite of Boulder dancers. Afterwards, a buffet style potluck snack is provided by the attendees. Held on various Fridays each month. Drop-in fee of $5 per person. No partner or registration is required.
Learn To Play Bridge Base Online (BBO). Tuesday, August 24, 1:30 – 4:30 p.m.
Bridge Base Online is an online application developed largely in response to challenges posed by the COVID-19 pandemic. It allows bridge players to play the game remotely with partners and against opponents who may be located worldwide. In this single-session three-hour tutorial, participants will learn how to download the BBO application, register as a player, understand how the app works, and practice a few hands under the supervision of an experienced bridge teacher. All skill levels welcome. Participants need to bring their own laptop to use in class. Resident/Non-resident $75/$94.
Get Reacquainted – What’s New with Fitness! Wednesday, August 26, 9:30 – 11:00 a.m.
Kate Houlik, Program Coordinator with Parks and Recreation and Maureen Dobson, Programs Manager with Older Adult Services will review current onsite and online fitness programs and aquatics for older adults, and the registration process during COVID with time for Q&A. Please register by noon the day before the program. Participants will receive a link to this online program after registration via email, or a call-in number if you prefer to participate by phone.
