Musical Performance: The Mark McQuery Trio-Saturday, January 12, 2-3 p.m.
Enjoy the acoustic guitar musical stylings of local band the Mark McQuery Trio at this Saturday afternoon concert.

Mindfulness: embrace each moment-Monday, January 14, 2-3 p.m.
Join Jule Lane, a mindfulness practitioner, as she shows how mindfulness awareness can lead to a happier life. This form of mental training helps us recognize how our minds exaggerate the severity of a setback, so we can avoid believing it as truth. As a result of mindfulness awareness, new neural pathways can be created and change the brain, all without medication so we can embrace each moment and find fulfillment.

Documenting your Genealogy Workshop- Tuesday, January 15, 9:30-11:30 a.m.
Learn how to document your genealogical research sources, based on the book “Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian” in this special workshop presented by the Columbine Genealogical and Historical Society. Find out why it’s important to document information and learn tips and techniques.

Registration required on or before January 8th Class fee is $25 which includes the book “Evidence! Citation & Analysis for the Family Historian.”

The Ski Troops: Colorado’s 10th Mountain Division-Tuesday, January 22, 7 p.m.
Cowboys, lumberjacks , athletes and skiers were recruited to undertake the dangerous and vital mission that liberated Italy in WWII. Tom Duhs USMC (Retired) will share the story of the 10th Mountain Division and the unique nature of the only U.S. Army Mountain Division, its recruitment, training, employment and work after WWII.

Movie Matinee: A Wrinkle in Time (PG) -Saturday, January 26, 2-4 p.m.
Based on the Madeleine L’Engle novel, the film follows a young girl who, with the help of three astral travelers, sets off on a quest to find her missing father. Starring Oprah Winfrey, Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. Enjoy free popcorn and lemonade.

Alexander Hamilton with Active Minds-Monday, January 28, 2-3 p.m.
The blockbuster musical Hamilton has ignited considerable interest in the story of this American founding father. Join Active Minds as we journey back to our nation’s early history and visit the life and times of Alexander Hamilton, his friends, his enemies, and the principles he fought (and perhaps died) for.

January 20: A Cleansing New Year

We’ve made it through the holidays – so let’s spoil ourselves (or someone else) with some homemade spa treats. Personalized, scented bath salts, spicy sugar scrubs, refreshing herbal teas…we’ll make this season as tranquil as we can! And when you’ve made your treats, have fun decorating their containers, for a little extra cheer. We’ll provide the supplies, ideas, and space – bring your weary feet, and be ready for some serious spoiling.

Monday Evening Book Discussion Group
If you enjoy talking about books come to the Bemis Evening Book Group, which meets in Sophie’s Place at the library on the third Monday of each month, 7-8 p.m. The following books will be discussed in upcoming sessions:

Books & Beer: Brewing up great discussions
We’re partnering with Saint Patrick’s Brewing Company, a local business, to provide a new book group – at the brewery! Each month, we will read a nonfiction book about a social, economic, or historical topic, and then meet to drink great beer and have great discussions. Join us for our next meeting on Thursday, January 24th. The discussion starts at 6 p.m., but be sure to get there a little earlier to take advantage of the happy hour prices! All technology classes and open computer lab are offered from 9:30-11 a.m. One-on-One Technology Help is available on Wednesdays by appointment only.

Downloading eBooks with Libby, January 7 (9:30am – 11:00am)
Want to learn how to get library books to your phone or tablet? This is the class for you! We’ll go over how to download the “Libby, by Overdrive” app, how to connect Bemis Library, and then how to find and check out eBooks or eAudiobooks!
Prerequisites: compatible devices can be found here: (Libby is not currently supported by Kindle or Nook devices)

One-on-One Tech Help, January 14 (9:30am-11:00am – 30 minute time slots)
Sign up for a 30 minute individualized tech appointment with a librarian to get assistance with anything from Smartphones and Tablets to signing up for an email address. Note: Registration is required for one-on-one appointments.

iPhone Basics, January 28 (9:30am – 11:00am)
Get familiar with your iPhone as we go over accessing apps such as the calendar, using the internet, taking a photo, and how to change settings. Note: registration required and class size limited to 10 people.
Prerequisites: iPhone with iOS 12 or newer. Call the library if you have questions about what iOS software your phone has.

Computer and Device Training: Open Computer Lab
Get answers to all of your computer-related questions every Thursday morning from 9:30-11 a.m. in the library’s Computer Lab. Practice your computer skills and have a little one-on-one time with a computer class instructor. Bring your smartphone or tablet and receive individual help downloading ebooks and eaudiobooks to your device. No registration required.
